This year, the Onaga Buffaloes are scheduled to play the Clifton-Clyde Eagles on January 31st for Winter Royalty. The JV Girls will start the night off followed by the Varsity Girls and JV Boys tipping off at 6:00 P.M. The Varsity Boys will follow promptly.
Winter Royalty preparations kicked off this past week with classes meeting to discuss decorations, vote on candidates, and prepare for the spirit days chosen by the cheerleaders. This year's spirit days will go as follows: Monday is ‘Music Genre Monday’ with Seniors assigned Hip-Hop/Rap, Juniors with Rock & Roll, Sophomores with Country, and Freshmen with Pop/KidsBop; Tuesday is ‘Dress as Your Type’ where students will dress as their ideal partner; Wednesday is ‘Grout-Fit Wednesday’ where students will show off all of their gray clothing items; Thursday is ‘Throwback Thursday’ where students will dress like they’re from the 70s, 80s, or 90s; Friday is the classic ‘Everything Orange’ where everyone is to sport all of their Onaga gear in anticipation of the game that night.
This year's candidates for Winter Royalty are Delaney Figge, Atalie Conger, Jaeden Abitz, Bridgett Campbell, Dylan Magnett, L.J. Koelzer, Francesco Giolo, and Wyatt Boggs. Once the candidates are assigned a partner, they are tasked with finding a duo costume to show off during the pep rally on Friday afternoon where there will be games for them to participate in.
Winter Royalty is a big game for our basketball players, and they would love the support from our community during the game. Large, encouraging crowds always improve the atmosphere at basketball games and inspire our teams. Show up and get loud on the 31st to support our hard-working student-athletes.
