Yet another successful season of competition for OJH students! The Junior High Scholars Bowl team competed February 24, 2020, at Sts. Peter & Paul School. Both teams competed well and 8th grade placed 3rd. Mr. Goudy and Mr. Kufahl are proud of their accomplishment!

MONITORING CORONAVIRUS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
USD 322 wants families to know we are closely monitoring information from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and proactively working with state and local health partners for guidance on preventative measures for the Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19.
USD 322 IS PREPARED
Onaga has been in close contact with local and state health partners, including the Pottawatomie County Health Department and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). We have a plan of action should the virus impact our area.
In the event of an outbreak in our community, the district would follow public health partners’ lead on any quarantines, closures or other health measures as necessary. As always, USD 322’s focus is to ensure the safety of all students and staff and to minimize any impact on learning in our schools.
If families have additional questions about COVID-19, they are encouraged to view the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Fact Sheet from KDHE. This fact sheet includes information about the virus, symptoms and severity, and how to protect yourself.
STAY HEALTHY
One of the most important things our community can do right now is practice preventative measures and remind students of everyday actions they can take to slow the spread of germs and prevent illness. The district appreciates the encouraging of these healthy habits at home as well.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. School staff have access to preventive products like disposable wipes and hand sanitizer to use throughout the day to stop the spread of germs. District custodial staff utilize hospital-grade disinfectants and decontamination cleaning systems that sanitize both hard and soft surfaces killing viruses and bacteria.
Stay home when you are sick except to get medical care. Children who are ill should remain home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without the aid of medication.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
USD 322 appreciates your partnership in supporting the health and safety of our school communities.

We have an amazing custodial staff that maintains our school premises in sickness and in health (with a lot of sickness lately!) A huge thank you to Donald Pinick, Jeff Mapes, Marjorie Haynie, and Christopher May for keeping our school a clean and healthy space!

The OHS girls basketball team showed great toughness last night in Regionals at Doniphan West. They worked hard this season and continued to get better with every game. Congrats to our team and especially to our seniors, Kady Figge and Laura Krohn.

Last Saturday the OHS boys’ wrestlers traveled to Council Grove for Regionals. They wrestled hard and “punched their tickets” to State! We applaud our wrestlers for their hard work and wish them luck at State Wrestling in Hays this Friday and Saturday.

The high school basketball boys played and worked hard yesterday evening and throughout the season! Even though their record may not show it, they put all their effort into the season.

This Thursday and Friday, Morgan Mayginnes travels to Salina for the Girls State Wrestling Meet. Morgan placed 1st at Regionals and now she’s competing for her fourth Girls State Wrestling Championship. Good luck!!

The 6th grade class was asked to read a short story called “Names/ Nombres “, then write a paper and do an art project spelling their name in any material they chose. When you have a chance make sure to check them out in the Junior High hallway.
